Al Anderson: Artist Statement

Landscapes and areas of land untouched by human encroachment are his favorite are his favorite subjects for his oil and watercolor paintings. From photographs, Al has done many commissions of homesteads, buildings and places of regard for clients seeking artwork. Throughout his travels in Canada, Europe, U.K., Africa and Mexico Al has photographed the uniqueness of the countrysides and people as references for future paintings. The outdoors and it’s special beauty always intrigued Al and inspired him to teach himself how to work in oils. In the late 1970’s and early 1980’s Al studied for 8 yrs. Under the late John Hanely. In 1992 he studied watercolors under Dean Reeves and Robert Bailley. Al now teaches oil painting at Alaura Artworks. Al has done many paintings and sold to clients all across Canada, Britain, South Africa, Italy and Germany. He enjoys doing commissioned work as well as pursuing new and exciting ideas in his painting.
